Euthanasia

Understanding & Compassionate

Pet hospice is a team-oriented effort to provide comfort and quality of life for your aging or terminally ill pet until natural death or the decision to euthanize. Our team of veterinarians and support staff help you and your family understand your pets needs and how to provide comfort. At this stage, our focus is to provide comfort and support your pet. The focus is not on finding a cure, providing diagnostic or blood-work. During this time, we will also discuss options for your pets end-of-life. This is one of the most difficult times for families and we will be there with you each step of the way.

What is the Process?

In order to work around your schedule, it is best to provide Pet Have as much notice as possible. In many cases, we are available on short notice or same day appointments. You can call us at XXX-XXX-XXXX to schedule an appointment, ask questions, or for additional resources. There is little you will need to do prior to the appointment and we will take care of everything when we arrive. In some cases, you may want other pets or family members present. This will depend on age and behavior. Once the process has been completed we encourage other pets to spend time with each other, they too have a grieving process.

Our licensed veterinarian will explain the entire process and answer any questions you many have. We suggest selecting a quiet and peaceful area of the home for the process to take place. Once comfortable, if necessary your pet may receive a sedative to ease discomfort, the euthanasia medicine is provided usually in a vein. We will create a clay and/or fur memorial keepsake, provide resources on pet loss and grief, provide a death certificate, and transportation to the crematory or assist with a backyard burial. As a professional courtesy we will contact your family veterinary to notify them of your pets passing.
