What is Hospice and when is it needed?
Pet hospice is a team-oriented effort to provide comfort and quality of life for your aging or terminally ill pet until natural death or the decision to euthanize. Our team of veterinarians and support staff help you and your family understand your pets needs and how to provide comfort. At this stage, our focus is to provide comfort and support your pet. The focus is not on finding a cure, providing diagnostic or blood-work. During this time, we will also discuss options for your pets end-of-life. This is one of the most difficult times for families and we will be there with you each step of the way.
Natural Death or Euthanasia?
Prior to the domestication of animals, natural aging and environment created a natural passing of an animal. With improved diets and living conditions many pets lead a better life and have a longer life expectancy. In many cases, a natural death is most desired and we can help you understand the process and provide support for your pet. However, with some diseases and illnesses, a natural death may not be the most humane and loving option. We can help you, your family, and pet with this decision process.
Our compassionate and caring team can help you with this important and difficult decision. Euthanasia means “good death” and our licensed veterinarians are trained to help you and your pet through this process. Our team members have participated in a grief recovery program to help themselves and our families. Each team member understands the magnitude and importance of in-home euthanasia and the value of providing this service.
